Actor Anson Mount is revealing if he’d ever don the Starfleet uniform again after Star Trek: Strange New World‘s wrapped its fifth and final season in late 2025.
During a July 2026 interview with Decider, while promoting the current fourth season of Star Trek: SNW, Mount was asked if he’d be willing to play his character, Captain Christopher Pike, “again down the line in any capacity.” He suggested he’d consider accepting an offer to reprise the character, who was originally played by Jeffrey Hunter in Star Trek: The Original Series.
“Well, first of all, it’s been a tremendous honor. One of the biggest honors of my career. And one of the funnest jobs of my career, maybe the funnest,” said Mount during the Decider interview. “You learn in this business to not have any expectations, but to also never say never, and really anything can happen. You don’t know. So, you never just say never and you see what the universe tosses your way.”
He also went on to say that he is grateful for belonging to the Star Trek franchise, which began with Star Trek: TOS‘s 1966 premiere episode.
“It is heady to think that I’m part of this franchise that has almost 900 episodes produced over the years. I just feel lucky, and I’m happy for what I got,” said Mount to the publication.
In a July 2026 interview with The GATE, Mount, who began playing Pike during the second season of Star Trek: Discovery, which premiered in 2019, said that portraying the legacy character has been “surreal.” He also referenced that he’s been starring as Pike on Star Trek: SNW since its first season, which began airing in 2022.
“The longest a job has remained surreal to me. Literally, I think probably every day there was a moment where I would look around and think, ‘I cannot believe I’m on Star Trek, much less the Captain of the Enterprise,'” said Mount, who also shared he’s been a fan of the science fiction franchise since his childhood.
