Arnold Schwarzenegger Returns for Season 2 of Netflix's 'FUBAR'

20 May 20259 Mins Read

He always said, “I’ll be back,” and sure enough he is. Arnold Schwarzenegger makes his return to television for the second season of FUBAR as Luke Brunner, a CIA operative who is set to retire from the spy game but keeps getting pulled back in. The former champion bodybuilder-turned-actor-turned-governor-turned-actor-again has starred in multiple blockbuster films, including The Terminator and Total Recall, as well as family-friendly hits Kindergarten Cop and Twins.Much like Sylvester Stallone who led the Sheridan Taylor series Tulsa King, Schwarzenegger made his first foray into series television last year with FUBAR, a spy thriller series that has a True Lies (which also starred Schwarzenegger) twist to it.

Here’s everything we know about the second season of FUBAR.

What is FUBAR about?

Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger) is a CIA Operative who has kept his spy life secret from his family. Now on the verge of retirement, he is pulled back in for one last mission. While on his final mission, he discovers his daughter (Monica Barbaro) has also been keeping a secret from him—she, too, is a spy! The two are forced to become partners in their current mission, and as they deal with typical father-daughter family dynamics, they also deal with terrorists, gunrunners and nuclear weapons against a global backdrop with a bit of humor thrown in for good measure.

What is FUBAR rated?

FUBAR is rated TV-MA, mainly for language and violent situations.

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven’t watched the first season of FUBAR, stop here and return after you have seen the entire first season.

What happened in season 1 of FUBAR?

In the first season of FUBAR, Luke (Schwarzenegger) is set to retire, but one last mission pulls him back in. During that mission he discovers that his daughter, Emma (Barbaro) is also a CIA operative. During his mission to extract her, they discover that Boro Polonia (Gabriel Luna) is looking to continue his father’s legacy, by creating nuclear bombs to sell to the highest bidder.

Is there a Season 2 of FUBAR?

Yes! At Netflix’s 2023 TUDUM event, Arnold Schwarzenegger was on hand to announce a second season for FUBAR. He was also quick to tweet about it!

Sequel's in the bag. Crunchies are in the cake. #FUBAR Season 2 is a go! THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU! #TUDUM @netflix pic.twitter.com/QoSr5CQs5a

Meet the cast of FUBAR

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Netflix

Arnold Schwarzenegger (Luke Brunner)

This is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first television series. The star of such blockbuster films as The Terminator, Total Recall and Predator, the former California governor has also played to younger, more family-friendly audiences with films like Kindergarten Cop, Twins and Junior.

Monica Barbaro

Monica Barbaro (Emma Brunner)

Barbaro appeared in Top Gun: Maverick as navy pilot Lieutenant Natasha “Phoenix” Trace. She has had regular series or guest starring roles on UnREAL, Stumptown and Chicago Justice.

Travis Van Winkle

Travis Van Winkle (Aldon)

Aldon is a CIA operative on Luke’s team. He looks sharp in a suit and loves to crack a joke. Van Winkle has had recurring or regular series roles on shows such as You, The Last Ship and Hart of Dixie. He has also appeared in several Hallmark Channel films including Christmas Getaway and ‘Tis the Season to Be Merry.

Fortune Feimster

Fortune Feimster (Roo)

Roo (short for Ruth) is another CIA operative on Luke’s team. She and Aldon are besties and she loves to launch a bomb—whether it be the comical kind or the explosive kind. Comedian Fortune Feimster has her own special streaming on Netflix after first appearing on Last Comic Standing back in 2010. She has appeared on shows such as Glee, The Mindy Project and Claws, and has lent her voice talent to shows like The Simpsons, Bless the Harts and Velma.

Milan Carter and Aparna Brielle

Milan Carter (Barry)

Barry is the computer whiz on Luke’s team. He usually stays behind the scenes offering intel to Luke and the other members of the team on the ground. Carter has previously appeared on Warped!, Dolemite is My Name and The Neighborhood.

Aparna Brielle (Tina)

Tina is an NSA analyst on loan to the CIA. In the season finale, it is revealed that Tina is the Songbird, the Russian mole informing on Luke’s team. Brielle previously appeared on Grimm and The Librarians and was a series regular on A.P. Bio.

Jay Baruchel

Jay Baruchel (Carter)

Carter was Emma’s fiancé, and is unaware his significant other is a spy. Baruchel has appeared in films such as Goon, Million Dollar Baby and Tropic Thunder and television shows like Son of a Critch, The Moodys and Letterkenny. He also voices “Hiccup” in the How To Train Your Dragon series of movies and TV specials.

Scott Thompson

Scott Thompson (Dr. Pfeffer)

We sure hope to see Dr. Pfeffer appear in season 2 of FUBAR. The good doc is a CIA psychologist who often mediates sessions between Emma and Luke…with puppets. Thompson is best known for his years with comedy troupe Kids in the Hall. He has appeared on Let’s Get Physical, Hannibal, and American Gods and has lent his voice talents to American Dad!, Pinecone & Pony, and SuperMansion.

Fabiana Udenio

Fabiana Udenio (Tally Brunner)

Tally is Emma’s mom and Luke’s ex-wife. Unaware that both her ex-husband and daughter are in the spycraft business, her marriage deteriorated over the years with all of Luke’s “business trips.” She now dates a regular Joe and is happy–sort of. Udenio has guest starred or had recurring roles on Jane the Virgin, 90210, Mad About You, and Babylon 5, but is probably most recognizable for her turn as “Alotta Fagina” on Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.

Andy Buckley

Andy Buckley (Donnie)

Donnie is Tally’s boyfriend, who is nice and unassuming until he realizes Luke is still in love with Tally and trying to win her back. Best known for his role as David Wallace on The Office, Buckley has also appeared on Veep, The West Wing, and The League.

Is anyone joining the cast for season 2 of FUBAR?

Yes! Carrie-Ann Moss joins the cast in a recurring role as Greta Nelso, a former East German spy who has a passionate history with Luke. Sounds a lot like her character in Chuck!

Guy Burnett also joins the cast as Theodore Chips, another spy that Luke and his team must contend with.

Carrie-Anne Moss

Any cameos we should keep an eye out for in FUBAR?

We hope to see a few fun cameos in season 2 of FUBAR. Last season, Tom Arnold reunited with his True Lies co-star and he’ll return again this season. Perhaps Jamie Lee Curtis will make a cameo this season? Or maybe Arnold’s twin, Danny DeVito?

Who created the series FUBAR?

FUBAR was created by writer/producer Nick Santora who also serves as executive producer and showrunner. Santora has written/produced for shows such as The Sopranos, Law & Order, and Prison Break. The former lawyer has also written for Scorpion, FBI, and Reacher and created shows like Beauty and the Geek and Breakout Kings.

What does the term “FUBAR” mean?

“FUBAR” is an acronym that dates back to World War II and is military slang for “F—ed Up Beyond All Recognition”.
