Avatar’s Cabbage Merchant has officially joined Magic: The Gathering

12 August 20252 Mins Read

Team Avatar is coming to Magic: The Gathering, and that means everyone’s favorite Avatar: The Last Airbender character is getting his own card, too. We’re talking, of course, about the Cabbage Merchant (also known to fans as the Cabbage Man), a character whose main purpose is to get his cabbages smashed by Avatar Aang and his pet sky bison Appa, and then to scream out in anger: “My cabbages!!!”

The Cabbage Merchant card was revealed during a Magic livestream on Tuesday. He’s part of the set’s Jumpstart product, typically meant for new players looking to learn the game. However, he still has some interesting abilities that serious players may want to consider building their decks around. (Jumpstart cards are legal in the popular Commander format, but not in the more regulated Standard.)

Notably, it seems the full set may include more than one variation of the Cabbage Merchant. During the livestream, Wizards of the Coast hinted that we could be getting other versions of this legendary creature — or at the very least, different versions of the art.

“We might be seeing more of the Cabbage Merchant on some other art pieces,” one livestream host said, “and he isn’t always this happy.”
