Bachelor in Paradise viewers were in store for quite the fireworks when Justin Glaze’s ex-girlfriend Susie Evans joined the show on Monday’s (July 14) episode. But nobody could have predicted what happened at that “insane” rose ceremony.
Read on to find out how it went down, as one of the stars tells Parade it was “insane” and that “everyone was in shock,” but beware of spoilers ahead. If you haven’t watched the episode yet, stop reading.
What happened on Bachelor in Paradise season 10, episode 2?
At the end of the episode, three girls for sure did not get roses — Alli Jo Hinkes, Jill Chin and Zoe McGrady. The remaining couples on the show are Spencer Conley and Jess Edwards, Dale Moss and Kat Izzo, Jeremy Simon and Bailey Brown, Brian Autz and Parisa Shifteh, and Jonathon Johnson and Alexe Godin.
But what about Susie, Justin and Lexi? Justin did not give Lexi his rose. Instead, he offered it to Susie, who turned him down. Contestant Jess tells Parade that it was a crazy turn of events.

“Oh my gosh, even just thinking about [that rose ceremony] again stresses me out, honestly,” says Jess. “I definitely thought Justin was going to give Lexi his rose, so when he said Susie, what went through my mind was, ‘Oh my god, my best friend in here is going home,’ for one, and then also, I can’t speak for everyone else, but for myself, I’m like, ‘What does this mean?! Does he want to get back together with her? Why is he doing this? What is going to happen?!’ It was insane, I think everyone was in shock.”
Lexi and Jess are quite close from having both been on Joey Graziadei’s season of The Bachelor. But despite Lexi being “her girl,” Jess says that she ultimately thinks Justin was being sincere in just trying to offer Susie more of a chance to be there and possibly meet someone new.
“Honestly, I do think that he felt like he probably owed her that opportunity because they had such a long history, and maybe the situation with him and Lexi just wasn’t going at the pace that maybe he wanted it to,” said Jess. “So I do think that he had the intention of just giving [Susie] some extra time there.”

And as far as Jess and Spencer go, Jess assures us that she never even considered picking anyone else for the Kissing Booth game. For right now, Spencer is her one and only.
“Just keep watching, I’m super excited for the rest of the season,” says Jess.
Bachelor in Paradise airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, though the continuation of the July 14 episode airs Tuesday, July 15 at 8 p.m.
