Barbra Streisand is saying “See you, Hubble” one final time.
During the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday, Streisand took the stage at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles to pay homage to her late co-star and friend, Robert Redford, during the ceremony’s “In Memoriam” segment.

Streisand first gave a speech in honor of Redford, before then delivering a brief performance of “The Way We Were,” the theme song from the beloved 1973 film of the same name, in which she co-starred opposite Redford.
Redford’s death was announced on Sept. 16, 2025, after he died in his sleep at his home near Provo, Utah. He was 89.
“He was a brilliant, subtle actor, and we had a wonderful time playing off each other,” Streisand, 83, said while on stage at Sunday night’s ceremony. “I miss him now more than ever.”
She then broke out into the final verse of “The Way We Were,” leaving not a dry eye in the house with the heartfelt performance.

Streisand previously performed the same emotional ballad at the 85th Academy Awards in 2013 while paying tribute to the song’s composer, Marvin Hamlisch, as part of the “In Memoriam” segment at that year’s ceremony.
Following Redford’s death, Streisand took to Instagram to pay tribute to the late actor, who she described as “one of a kind.”

“Bob was charismatic, intelligent, intense, always interesting— and one of the finest actors ever,” Streisand wrote of Redford, while remembering, “The last time I saw him, when he came to lunch, we discussed art and decided to send each other our first drawings.”
“He was one of a kind and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him,” she concluded at the time.
