As first reported by the Swedish news outlet Expressen, Barracuda Queens, Netflix’s Swedish drama series, is returning on Netflix globally on June 5th, 2025, for its second season, which was officially renewed by the streamer back in early 2024.
Debuting on Netflix in June 2023, Barracuda Queens followed five young women who lived lavish lifestyles supported by planning and conducting risky heists. As we noted when the series picked up its season 2 renewal, the show really only was a hit in its home nation and some surrounding Nordic territories, given that it missed the global top 10s. What we do know, courtesy of the Netflix Engagement Reports, is that the series picked up 7.2M views (that’s 23.60 million hours watched) between 2023 and 2024.
Season 2 will fast-forward five years from season 1, which took place in 1995. Now, into the new millennium, Lollo returns from her studies in Paris to Stockholm with her friends, adjusting to their normal lifestyles after they leave their life of crime behind. Now reunited, however, they have grand plans and need to raise funds quickly. How will they do it? They turn their eyes to the world of expensive and priceless art.
Alva Bratt returns as Lollo Millkvist, Tindra Monsen as Klara Rapp, Sandra Zubovic as Frida Rapp, Sarah Gustafsson as Amina Khalil, Tea Stjärne as Mia Thorstensson, and Izabella Scorupco as Margareta Milikvist.
