BC weather forecast is calling for an 'extremely rare dry pattern' for parts of the province

After weeks of rainy weather, the new year is looking a lot drier for those in southern B.C.

The B.C. weather forecast is calling for unusually calm conditions and much less moisture in the region, so you’ll want to take advantage of the milder weather while you can.

The Weather Network said that an “extremely dry weather pattern” across southern B.C. will last for a while, bringing with it some sunshine. After endless rainy days, it seems like the storm clouds are in the review mirror for a while, “as a new regime kicks in through the middle of January.”

Some areas of the province have had seemingly endless gloomy days, with over 20 consecutive days of rain measured at YVR and YYJ.

Luckily though, generally mild weather is now in the forecast for Metro Vancouver and southern parts of Vancouver Island for the next couple of weeks. Some areas of the province will even be getting above-seasonal temperatures and sun that should brighten the sky for at least the next week.

Typically Vancouver gets around 18 rainy days in January, according to TWN, so this stretch of sun is especially appreciated.

While some systems are still set to come over this week, TWN said that “most will bring alpine-level snow and lack an abundance of moisture.”
