Beatles Announce ‘Anthology 4,’ Docuseries Coming To Streaming: What We Know

21 August 20252 Mins Read

When the official Instagram account for The Beatlesposted a vague series of numbers at the start of the week, fans were buzzing. Did it have to do with the Sam Mendes film project about the rise of the “Fab Four”? Would it be a 4k digital remastered version of 1968’s Yellow Submarine? Would it be something similar to the newly announced John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Power to the People?

Or—as some correctly guessed—would it be the next and final edition of the Beatles Anthology series? Released in the mid-1990s, the Beatles Anthology explored the band’s legacy in fine detail. In addition to the three-volume set of double albums that contained rarities and outtakes, there was an eight-part docuseries that had John, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr tell their story through their own words.

Three decades later, The Beatles Anthology is back.

The new Anthology music collection arrives on Nov. 21, spanning 12 LPs / 8 CDs, a total of 191 tracks of studio outtakes, live performances, broadcasts and demos. The first three Anthology installments are there, along with Anthology 4: 13 previously unreleased demos, session recordings and rare tracks.

Anthology 4 also includes a new mix of “Free As A Bird,” the song thought to be the last Beatles track until “Now And Then” came out in 2023. And this new set contains 26 songs never released on vinyl.

The Beatles Anthology Docuseries: How To Watch Online

The Anthology documentary series that first aired in 1995 has been restored and remastered and will stream exclusively on Disney+ on Nov. 26.

It’ll contain a new installment, “Episode Nine,” with unseen behind-the-scenes footage of Paul, George and Ringo coming together between 1994 and 1995 to work on The Anthology while reflecting on their shared life as The Beatles.

On top of that,  the 25th anniversary of The Beatles Anthology Book will arrive on Oct. 14. 1,300 photos over 368 pages, giving fans an intimate look at memories taken from the band’s archives. You can preorder the book here, and preorder the Anthology music collection here.

In between this and the reissue of the newly remastered Sometime in New York City, Beatles fans have a lot to love this year. And all you need is love.
