Beloved Vancouver Vietnamese spot opens new location inside Granville Station

16 May 20252 Mins Read

Granville station is about to be filled with the smells of delicious aromatic broth, because a popular Vancouver phở spot is opening its second location.

A family-run darling located in Burnaby, Chao Mami — formerly Burnaby’s Brokenrice Restaurant — has been serving up authentic Vietnamese-style cuisine since 2013.

Now, those flavours are coming to downtown Vancouver for the first time with Chao Mami Express, and the location is celebrating with plenty of deals you won’t want to miss.

Family food, family ties

Chao Mami Express

A labour of love, Xi Nguyen’s passion for cooking shows in her from-scratch approach that helped make Brokenrice a community staple, and continued to help Chao Mami thrive.

Now, with her children Jennifer and Steven helping support, the business is taking a leap and expanding their phở, fresh salad rolls, baos, and drinks into Vancouver — with a cute mural to decorate the new spot by local artist Olivia Di Liberto.

Visitors will be tasting traditional Vietnamese foods as if they’re a guest in the owner’s home, celebrating both familiar and modern takes on the cuisine’s flavours.

Grand opening deals

To mark the expansion, Chao Mami’s new Vancouver location is making their happy hour an ecstatic hour with some celebratory deals. You can get any of the three snacks on the menu, which includes bao, salad rolls, or a mini phở, for just $10.

Also, if you act fast and visit them during their grand-opening week from May 20 to 26, the first 20 people in line for dine-in only will receive a free bowl of phở.

So mark your calendars and come hungry, because this new Chao Mami location is sure to be your new favourite spot.
