‘Beloved’ Woodford Reserve Bourbon Is Back Nationwide

Woodford Reserve’s highly anticipated “rich” and “complex” bourbon is coming back for 2026.

Earlier this week, the top-ranked bourbon company confirmed the highly anticipated annual return of “one of the most coveted bottles in American whiskey” is upon us, and fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer to find it in stores.

Here’s everything we know about the return of Woodford Reserve’s Double Double Oaked Bourbon.

Woodford Reserve’s Double Double Oaked Returns Nationwide

Woodford Reserve’s Double Double Oaked originally launched as part of its Distillery Series in 2015, and in the decade since, the brand said it’s earned a “devoted following for its deep richness and complexity.” Calling it a “luxury expression” and a “testament to Woodford Reserve’s dedication to innovation and craftsmanship,” the returning favorite takes fully mature Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon and finishes it for an additional two years in a second, “heavily toasted, lightly charred, new oak barrel,” hence its name.

The 90.4-proof bourbon’s mash bill is 72 percent corn, 18 percent rye, and 10 percent malted barley. It’s officially described as having the color of a roasted coffee bean and a “robust medley” of aromas featuring hints of “rich maple syrup, dark butterscotch, brittle caramel, bittersweet chocolate, burnt marshmallow, and sweet hickory smoke.” Its taste is likened to that of dried cherry, cranberry and blackberry, with hints of ripe apple, chai tea and warming clove, finishing with a warm, drying, spicy character.

The extra time in the barrel, according to the distillery, creates a bourbon that is “distinctly spicier” than its original counterpart, which it said is known for having a sweeter taste and finish. The “beloved” release features “extraordinary flavor notes” that are “unexpected and complex,” Woodford Reserve master distiller Elizabeth McCall suggested in a statement.

Fans call it a “step up” from the original, but note that it’s a little steep for the price and suggest it would be a “better deal” if it were cask strength.

According to the official announcement, Woodford Reserve’s Double Double Oaked is available in a 700mL bottle with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $199.99 at fine retailers and select domestic military exchange stores across the country. It will also be available to purchase at the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky, for a limited time, while supplies last (limit of two per person).
