‘Blackbeard’s Treasure’ quest walkthrough in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

10 July 20264 Mins Read

The “Blackbeard’s Treasure” quest in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a proper challenge, as the old pirate decided to hide his belongings underwater, in a cave, behind hidden doors, and guarded by sharks. This won’t be the most pleasant swim you’ve ever had.

Here’s how to obtain Blackbeard’s treasure in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

Where to find Blackbeard’s treasure in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

Upon completing the main quest called “Do Not Go Gently,” you will receive Blackbeard’s treasure map. Like other treasure maps in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, you must study the map to find the buried goods, though this map doesn’t come with coordinates. It does, however, come with a side quest, aptly named “Blackbeard’s Treasure.”

Blackbeard’s treasure is buried in Anotto Bay, a small enclave north of Kingston. If you haven’t been there before, beware that enemy ships will attack you upon approach, so be ready for a fight. However, if you’ve been there already, you can fast travel to Anotto Bay directly and avoid the fight, as your ship will be docked right away.

To find Blackbeard’s treasure, swim to the wooden staircase and the diving bell on the left side of the bay (the position of the star in the picture above) and dive down. Enter the tunnel behind the colorful fish and the old minecart.

Be ready to dodge a shark attack just before you turn the first corner. When the path splits in two, go right and upward, following the ladder, to get closer to Blackbeard’s treasure. Optionally, you can go left first, into the tunnel with the sea urchins, then turn right to find a regular treasure chest (be ready to dodge another shark as you approach the chest).

As soon as you spot an air current, follow it upward to find an air pocket which you can use to replenish oxygen. When you reach the current next to the two large jellyfish and the ladder, climb upward to enter a dry tunnel. Optionally, you can swim further ahead first — there’s an additional treasure chest waiting at the end of the path.

Assassinate the pirate around the corner, then swim through another tunnel, which leads into a larger, dry chamber. As you enter, wait patiently for the two quarreling pirates to blow themselves up — that’ll save you the trouble of having to take them out yourself. Dispose of the remaining pirates, then use explosives to open the blocked pathway. One small red barrel will do; place it before the stone wall in the east, be sure to stand a few feet away from the barrel, and use your pistol to detonate it.

In case you’re wondering how to open the locked chest inside this room, you must defeat the NPC who’s carrying the key, but he won’t spawn while “Blackbeard’s Treasure” is active. You’ll have to complete the quest and come back later.

Follow the tunnel ahead, which leads to a large cave chamber. Dispose of the pirates (shoot the large red barrels to make quick work of them), then grab another small red barrel and place it on the northeast wall, up the ledge behind the waterfall. Use your pistol to detonate it from a safe distance. There are several small red barrels at the foot of the ledge and next to the waterfall.

Blackbeard’s treasure chest is behind the destroyed wall. After the cutscene, return to Great Inagua and open the chest at the docks to complete “Blackbeard’s Treasure” in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. As a quest reward, don’t expect any gold… You’ll receive something far better; Blackbeard’s portrait.
