Spider-Man: Brand New Day – Tom Holland’s latest outing as the Marvel web-slinger – has already crossed $1 billion in six days even if it hasn’t even started its IMAX run. While it’s quite normal to expect a Marvel Cinematic Universe film to play on IMAX screens, another Tom Holland blockbuster is in Spider-Man’s way at the moment.
Christopher Nolan’s ancient Greek epic The Odyssey, that also features the Spider-Man actor as the son of Matt Damon’s Odysseus, is on a record-setting IMAX run with sold-out shows until September. Spidey fans can rejoice as they too can watch Brand New Day on the coveted film format sooner than expected even if there is a catch.
When does Spider-Man: Brand New Day release on IMAX screens?
Your friendly neighbourhood masked vigilante finally swings to IMAX cinemas on Thursday, August 6, sharing screen schedules with The Odyssey.
Where can I watch Spider-Man: Brand New Day on IMAX?
While Spider-Man: Brand New Day is out on all standard digital IMAX screens all over the world from August 6 onwards, you still can’t watch the film in 70mm IMAX format that only 41 cinemas in the world can provide. This is mainly because The Odyssey is still playing exclusively in these 41 venues until September.
With Spider-Man facing off against the Hulk, a ninja army, and worst of all, his own inner demons, it’s still quite an adrenaline-fuelled romp to watch on digital IMAX. In fact, Brand New Day already had a strong IMAX opening in China, Japan and South Korea (where The Odyssey is yet to begin its global rollout). The film has already earned $23 million at the IMAX box office in these territories.
