Britney Spears Sings Otis Redding Hit in New Video and Her Voice May Surprise You

5 August 20252 Mins Read

Britney Spears is back to regularly posting on Instagram and one of her most recent videos offers something a bit more rare. Spears, who often dances in her social media videos, decided to sing Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay,” a song that was extremely popular in the ’60s.

“His soul makes me believe in GOD AGAIN!!! God knows I can’t sing like him!!! I wish!!!” Spears, 43, captioned the post, seemingly referring to Redding’s voice.

In the video, Spears put her own twist on the song, digging in on some of the more soulful parts. She danced around a room while wearing a cream colored dress, that she tugged at while she sang.

This is one of the few times that Spears has actually sang on Instagram. Many times, her videos are accompanied by music and fans don’t often get to hear her voice. However, this week, she’s posted at least two videos of herself singing. On August 4, she uploaded another video of her singing “Where Is Love?” from Oliver.

Spears has been pretty adamant about her career, ultimately deciding that she wasn’t going to make music anymore. She made the choice public after her 13+ year conservatorship ended in 2021.

“I’m pretty traumatized for life and yes I’m pissed as f*** and no I won’t probably perform again just because I’m stubborn and I will make my point,” Spears wrote on Instagram in September 2022, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Spears hasn’t performed live since 2018.
