Britney Spears has voluntarily entered a treatment facility for substance abuse following a DUI arrest last month.
According to TMZ, sources close to Spears told the outlet they urged the pop star to check herself in to rehab. One source said that Spears “realized she hit rock bottom.”
TMZ also reported that sources claim that Spears decided to enter rehab due to her pending DUI case.
“She knows strategically this will look good in front of the judge — that she’s taking it seriously,” one source claimed.
Spears was arrested on suspicion for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol on March 4, 2026 in Ventura County, CA. A representative for Spears told People at the time that the “unfortunate incident” was “completely inexcusable.”
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” her representatives said in a statement. “Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”
It is unknown how long Spears will be receiving treatment for and where in the United States she has entered treatment. Spears has received in patient treatment previously for substance abuse and mental health issues.
