For the second year in a row, the Dorian Hotel has earned a key from the revered Michelin hotel guide.
The Dorian is Calgary’s only hotel to receive the honour, and is also one of only six hotels in Alberta that have been recognized with a Michelin key.
The hotel is in excellent company with some of the province’s very best hospitality experiences, including Fairmont Banff Springs, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, and The Lodge at Bow Lake.
Similar to Michelin Stars for excellence in restaurants, Michelin Keys are awarded for outstanding hotel experiences based on a rigorous inspection process.
There are no Michelin-starred restaurants in Calgary, and the Dorian remains the only hotel in the city to receive a key.
Exactly like nothing else
This isn’t the only recent global accolade awarded to the Dorian Hotel. The hotel also recently won the award for Alberta’s Leading Boutique Hotel in the 2025 World Travel Awards.
The Dorian concept is a luxurious hotel inspired by Oscar Wilde’s 19th-century novel The Picture of Dorian Gray.
The hotel nods to the famous Dorian Gray character with playful room decor, bookish accents in its accompanying restaurants, The Prologue Café and The Wilde, and a touch of British charm.
There’s even a portrait on the wall of the lobby of the hotel that changes depending on anonymous “confessions” submitted to the hotel by guests. Depending on the content of the confessions, the man in the picture will decay and appear more devious, or younger and more charming.
Altogether it’s a well thought out dining and hospitality experience, with exceptional service, relentless creativity and a focus on delivering a premier hospitality experience.
A two-year accolade
The Dorian made headlines in 2024 when it was awarded its first Michelin Key, the only hotel in Calgary to receive the honour.
But receiving the key for a second year in a row isn’t a given — in fact, sometimes, it can be difficult to follow up.
The Dorian Hotel receiving the award again in 2025 is notable, solidifying this boutique hotel’s position as one of the brightest shining stars of our city.
The Dorian invites you to lose yourself in the simple indulgences, whether it’s a sip of Earl Grey tea in the afternoon or a morning spent lounging on luxurious sheets and a soft, pillowy bed.
After all, as Wilde wrote, the only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. And a stay at the Dorian is one temptation you’ll definitely want to indulge in.
