Canada’s giant pierogi is a roadside wonder that you have to see to believe

16 June 20252 Mins Read

Looking to tick off some iconic locations in Canada this summer? Well, you better add the world’s largest pierogi to your list of things to see if you are in Alberta.

If you find yourself northeast of Edmonton and want to see something truly incredible, this is it.

Perched on an extremely large fork, the statue honouring the delicious dumpling is located in Glendon, Alta., and stands 27 feet tall and weighs approximately 6,000 pounds. That’s a HEAVY pierogi!

It was unveiled in 1993 and has been making visitors to the village hungry for their next pierogi ever since.

Glendon is no stranger to the pierogi, holding an annual festival dedicated to the delicious cuisine in a park named after it, too.

It’s certainly among the top outrageous roadside attractions you have to see in Alberta.

Heck, we even think the Glendon Perogy can be added to the great large attractions of the world, up there with the Great Wall of China, the Great Pyramids of Giza, Machu Picchu, the Grand Canyon, and the Eiffel Tower.

If you are in the area for this strange object, you might as well travel on over to Mundare for its giant sausage and Vegreville for its giant pysanka. Knock ’em all off the Alberta sightseeing bucket list in one swoop, get into it!

If you are curious about other things to check out in Alberta, two spots in the province were just named some of the most beautiful in Canada, or these nine spots and cities in Alberta that we think are very underrated.

World’s Largest pierogi

Where: Glendon, Alta.
