Canada’s largest Mexican festival is coming to Toronto with tacos, music and Lucha Libre

9 September 20252 Mins Read

Think mariachi bands, dancers and the irresistible smell of tacos sizzling on the grill. Now picture it all happening in the middle of downtown Toronto. That’s the kind of energy the Mexican Day Toronto Festival is bringing to the city this year.

Mark your calendars for Sept. 13 and 14 because Nathan Phillips Square will once again transform into the largest Mexican fiesta in Canada, marking 31 years.

It’s been Toronto’s official Mexican Independence Day party since 1994.

What to expect

Get ready for a weekend of non-stop entertainment! We’re talking mariachis, cumbia and salsa music, norteña and ranchero sounds, lifting your spirits. There will even be Mexican rock thanks to Saul Torres Band taking the stage. Add in folkloric dances and you’re set for a thrilling weekend.

Now for the food! Tacos, tamales, quesadillas, burritos, sopes — the offerings are almost endless. Taste the wonders of Mexico all under one roof.

Local artisans and vendors will also be on site, showcasing handcrafted jewelry, traditional textiles and arts and crafts.

The excitement doesn’t end there. There will also be Lucha Libre wrestling. An authentic ring will take over Nathan Phillips Square, where luchadores will deliver flips, drama, and over-the-top fun.

And at city hall, check out the Colores de México art exhibition. It highlights the work of Mexican-Canadian artists that blends tradition and modern creativity in a beautiful collection.

With music, food, and art, you don’t want to miss out on this wonderful Mexican celebration.

Mexican Day Toronto Festival

When: Sept. 13 and 14, 2025
