Canada’s most magical pumpkin garden is opening at this beloved B.C. farm

19 August 20253 Mins Read

We’re right on the cusp of summer turning to fall, believe it or not. And while that does usher in crisper, cooler days, it also means that fall fun at the farm is just a stone’s throw away. Abbotsford’s Taves Farms kicks off its magical fall season with the opening of its sunflower fields this week, and tons of exciting seasonal activities will follow.

Sunflower season

Now in its 35th year, fall at Taves Farms commences with the Magic of Sunflowers experience, inviting guests to roam through vibrant sunflower blooms, capture memories on a whimsical bridge and various photo spots, and visit fairytale gnomes in their new gnome home.

You can also release a butterfly among the sunflowers, and sip cider or evening cocktails during your visit.

Farm guests will be able to enjoy the sunflower season from Aug. 21 to Sept. 7, 2025.

“What started out as a small family dream has grown into acres of vibrant pumpkin and apple experiences where our imaginations have run wild,” says Loren Taves, co-owner of Taves Farms. “We’ve been blessed to pioneer agritourism in our own way — from the thrill of the pumpkin cannon to the magical pumpkin garden.”

Canada’s most magical pumpkin garden

On Sept. 13, 2025, the farm will transition to the Magic of Fall experience, which runs until the end of the season on Oct. 31, 2025.

In addition to classic fall fun like hayrides and visiting adorable farm animals like goats and alpacas, the fall experience at Taves is bringing back the most magical pumpkin garden in Canada.

The enchanting pumpkin patch and princess carriage are the main draws, as are the farm’s acres of apple orchards.

Visitors can also roam three corn mazes this year, picking up freshly-roasted corn at the concessions area. There will also be pumpkin-spiced lattés to sip on, and food truck eats on select days this fall.

Want to enjoy a special sip during your visit? Taves Estate Cidery invites guests to hang out on their covered, heated patio with a soft apple cider, mocktail, seasonal cocktail, or specialty cider. This includes fan favourites like Pete’s Perry, Pete’s Pumpkin Perry, and Charlie’s Pumpkin Cider.

Apple-picking info

While the farm can’t provide exact dates as to when each apple variety will be ready for u-pick, the farm shares the following apple timeline on Instagram:

  • Sunrise – Ready now
  • Alkmene – Mid August
  • Gala – Mid-September
  • Ambrosia – Mid-Late September
  • Honeycrisp – Mid-Late September
  • Macintosh – Mid-Late September
  • Spartan – Mid-Late September
  • Jonagold – Late September
  • Fuji – Early to Late October

Taves Family Farms admission

Now, let’s get down to admission deets. Ticket prices vary by date and season, but when you book ahead, you’re guaranteed the best price, according to their website.

A pass for the Magic of Sunflowers experience is priced at $22.70 to $27.70 per person, depending on whether you go on a weekday or weekend.

Admission to the Magic of Fall is priced at $22.70 to $30.70 per person, depending on the day you visit.

So there you have it, fall enthusiasts! Mark your calendars and get ready to dive into all things autumn in just a few short weeks.
