Cast, Plot & Everything You Need to Know

When the first season of Delhi Crime won the International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series in 2020, it proved that Netflix India could produce shows that earned accolades on the global stage. Season 2 scored another International Emmy nomination for the show’s star, veteran actress Shefali Shah.

The show’s serialized format suits multiple seasons. Each season follows Shah’s deputy commissioner of police character Vartika Chaturvedi as she and her colleagues on the Delhi force race to solve a single, complicated case. The first season is inspired by a tragic 2012 gang rape that made world headlines, while the second is based on the Chaddi Baniyan gang.

Season 3 is inspired by the Baby Falak case from 2012 and focuses on a human trafficking operation that expands Chaturvedi’s investigation beyond Delhi. Huma Qureshi joins the cast as the mastermind behind the trafficking organization. Qureshi says she wanted to be a part of the series because of “its honesty. It never glorifies or sensationalizes. It forces us to confront uncomfortable truths that often hide in plain sight.”

Delhi Crime was originally created by Canadian filmmaker Richie Mehta. Season 3 is directed and showrun by Tanuj Chopra, who co-wrote the new season with Mayank Tiwari, Anu Singh Choudhary, Shubhra Swarup, Apoorva Bakshi, and Michael Hogan. Chopra told Filmfare that a revered Hollywood movie inspired the cop vs. criminal dynamic in this season of Delhi Crime: “My dream was always to make a female version of Heat.”

What is the plot of Delhi Crime?

Here’s how Netflix describes the new season:

The search for an injured baby’s missing mother leads to the unfurling of a widespread human trafficking investigation in India and becomes the biggest case of Madam Sir’s career as she’s pitted against a ruthless trafficker, Meena. We discover how women are trafficked from all corners of the country into the bride market of North India and into the sex trade. As the season heats up, the DC team – Vartika, Neeti, Bhupi and gang come together to piece together clues to discover a country-wide trafficking network whose threads connect beyond its borders.

Who is cast in Season 3 of Delhi Crime?

Shefali Shah (Darlings) returns as DCP Vartika Chaturvedi.

Huma Qureshi (Monica, O My Darling) plays Meena — aka “Badi Didi” — head of a human trafficking gang.

Returning cast members include:

  • Rasika Dugal (Mirzapur) as Neeti Singh
  • Rajesh Tailang (Trial By Fire) as Bhupendra “Bhupi” Singh
  • Jaya Bhattacharya (Mimi) as Vimla Baradwaj
  • Anuraag Arora (Amar Singh Chamkila) as Jairaj Singh

The show has six episodes and a TV-MA rating in the United States. Netflix offers the new series with the following audio and subtitle options:

  • Audio: English, Spanish (Latin America), Hindi [Original], Tamil, Telugu
  • Subtitles: Arabic, English, French, Hindi, Polish, Ukrainian, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional)

You can see more of Netflix’s upcoming TV and movie slate from India scheduled to arrive throughout the remainder of the year and into 2026 in the link provided.
