Century-old Toronto mansion with ten bedrooms hits market at over $3 million

13 July 20252 Mins Read

Most century homes in Toronto that are as big as 15 Laxton Ave. have usually gone one of two ways: they’ve either been gutted of all character and turned into a maze of makeshift apartments, or they’ve been left to crumble into such disrepair that even thinking about renovations feels like a multi-million dollar migraine.

But 15 Laxton Ave. is that rare unicorn—it’s neither of those things.

Built in 1910, this sprawling 7,000-square-foot South Parkdale home still holds onto its original charm.

Orante cornicing and an original porch light.

It boasts numerous stained glass windows, historic millwork, and the original grand staircase.

The foyer.

It is a small miracle it hasn’t been flipped beyond recognition or left to rot. Instead, 15 Laxton Ave. is standing strong with great bones and a whole lot of potential.

The dining room.

The interiors are spacious, with soaring ceilings and generously sized rooms.

15 Laxton Avenue Toronto

The family room.

Both the living room and family room feature fireplaces.

15 Laxton Avenue Toronto

The kitchen.

The kitchen looks surprisingly updated.

Original stained glass windows.

But honestly, I can’t stop swooning over the historical architectural details.

15 Laxton Avenue Toronto

A detached garage.

15 Laxton Ave. also sits on a massive, oversized 80-by-132-foot lot, which includes ample parking space.

The main staircase.

Additionally, with 10 bedrooms and six bathrooms, the scale alone sets it apart. Try finding that in your average Edwardian semi.

15 Laxton Avenue Toronto

The living room.

And while this isn’t a fully restored and updated Rosedale mansion with radiant floor heating and a custom wine cellar, 15 Laxton Ave. makes up for it in sheer possibility and price.

15 Laxton Avenue Toronto

An original light fixture on the newel post.

15 Laxton Ave. is listed at just $3,200,000—surprisingly reasonable in a neighbourhood where the average home price sits around $2.25 million.

15 Laxton Avenue Toronto

Original decorative columns.

When you factor in the sheer size of the lot, the historic charm, and the potential to transform it into a true architectural showpiece, that price starts to feel like a bit of a steal.

The backyard.

With the right vision, this could easily become one of South Parkdale’s most stunning restorations, where old-world elegance meets modern living in all the best ways.
