Cirque du Soleil’s newest show will premiere in Calgary this month

7 August 20252 Mins Read

Cirque du Soleil is returning to Canada for their 20th Big Top show — and the opening night is going to be right here in Calgary!

ECHO is a story of connection, intention, and the symbiosis that humans can craft and cultivate with the animals around them.

The world-renowned acrobatics group will perform at the Big Top for the opening night of the show’s Canadian leg on Aug. 30. You’ll have a chance to catch these jaw-dropping acrobatic feats in a new show that will continue until Oct. 19 in Calgary.

What to expect

If you’re a longstanding Cirque du Soleil fan, ECHO is set to offer something unforgettable.

“The creative intention for ECHO was to try and create something our fans haven’t experienced yet in a Big Top,” says ECHO author and director Mukhtar Omar Sharif Mukhtar.

In the story, performed by talented acrobats and aerialists, a young girl FUTURE steps into a fantasy world full of both human and animal creatures. Together, they join forces to rebuild their planet, piece by piece, in the hopes of creating a better world.

The story promises plenty of modern and surprising twists, bold new visuals, and never-before-seen acrobatic feats.

“We’ve been overjoyed by the response to ECHO so far and can’t wait to bring it back to Canada and to premiere it in Calgary, a city that has always been so welcoming of Cirque du Soleil,” says ECHO artistic director Fabrice Lemire. “It’s also the perfect show for new audience members of all ages, with a universal story everyone needs right now.”

So grab your spectacles and get ready to settle in for some awe-inspiring theatrics. We’ll see you there!

When: Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025
Where: Big Top, Stampede Park – 650 25th Ave. SE
Cost: $70
