There’s nothing better than a day of sun and fun before winding down with a good movie and a great snack, which is why we’re over the moon about what’s coming to City Hall Plaza and Churchill Square in Edmonton.
This weekend, the City will host Splash Day and a Movie at the Square, a dual experience that is FREE to attend and appropriate for all ages.
What to expect
Meant to commemorate the arrival of warmer weather and the opening of the City Hall fountain, this action-packed celebration should not be missed, even if it’s a tad overcast.
With summer music by DJ Seaglass, free mocktails from the Hallway Café, and entertainment by Hula Hoop Circus, those who check it out are in for hours of excitement with dancing, food, and community all day long.
From table tennis and basketball, to giant Lego and Snakes and Ladders, there will be several lawn games to be played and a ton of food trucks to enjoy before an outdoor screening of Free Willy at 3 p.m.
Want even more action?
The Edmonton Public Library and Royal Alberta Museum will also be hosting a number of activities and all-day giveaways on Saturday.
Can’t make it? Don’t fret.
The City Hall fountain and change rooms will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily following the event, unless Edmonton is hit with extreme weather or poor air quality.
As always, please check the facility notifications before heading out, and get ready for a wonderful day!
It’s going to be a good one.
