City of Toronto has ‘cool spaces’ to beat the heat in the summer

23 June 20252 Mins Read

This heat wave is no joke, Toronto. Temperatures have been soaring to the highest we’ve seen in a long time, and for some city residents, air conditioning isn’t an option. While the city has a wide selection of pools that can be used, they tend to get crowded quickly, while others aren’t strong swimmers. Luckily, there are other options to stay cool.

The City of Toronto actually has designated “cool spaces,” meaning any resident can utilize the spots on hot days.

Between splash pads, libraries, community centres, shopping centres, and pools (of course), there are a whopping 505 cool spaces in Toronto.

There’s also a breakdown of locations based on your needs, such as pet-friendly, accessible buildings, and buildings with wifi.

The list of cool spaces also includes that specific location’s hours, so you can plan your day accordingly.

Some of the featured cool spaces include:

  • Leaside Public Library
  • Trace Manes Park Splashpad
  • Mount Pleasant Public Library
  • June Rowlands Park Splashpad
  • Yonge Eglinton Centre
  • Jenner Jean-Marie Community Centre
  • North Toronto Memorial Community Centre
  • Don Mills Public Library
  • East York Community Centre
  • Gamble Park Splashpad

The next couple of days are going to be a doozy, so make sure to find your cool space ASAP and stay safe from this heat wave, Toronto.
