Clash of Clans Animated Series Titled ‘Clash’ in the Works at Netflix

Netflix is bringing the mobile game Clash of Clans to life in the form of a new animated series. Downloaded hundreds of millions of times with a player base worldwide, the popular mobile game has been a constant in the mobile gaming space since its initial launch for the past decade and more.

Clash of Clans and Clash Royale will be the subject of the new series, with the base-building strategy game best known for its mustachioed Barbarians and fire-wielding Wizards. The new series, titled Clash, will build upon the mayhem of the games. It follows a determined, but over his head, Barbarian who must rally a band of misfits to defend their village and navigate the comically absurd politics of war.

Fletcher Moules, who worked on Entergalactic and Agent Elvis for Netflix and is also behind the animated shorts on YouTube, is bringing the story to life as the showrunner for the series. Ron Weiner, who previously worked on titles like Futurama, Arrested Development, and 30 Rock, is the head writer on the series.

ICON Creative Studio, the studio behind Batwheels, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, and Netflix’s Action Pack, is working on the series.

Alongside today’s announcement of the greenlight, we received two statements from Crutis Lelash from Supercell and John Derderian of Netflix.

Lelash, who serves as head of film & TV at the Helsinki-based developer said, “We’re thrilled to be working with Netflix and this creative team to bring the world of CLASH to life. Think epic battles, immaculate Barbarian mustaches, and the kind of humor our players know and love.. They’ve been asking for a CLASH series forever, and we’re beyond excited to finally say: it’s happening!”

Vice President of Animation Series at Netflix, Derderian, said, “CLASH has been a global gaming phenomenon for over a decade, filled with humor, action, and unforgettable characters, perfect for an animated series adaptation. Working with the incredible team at Supercell, Fletcher Moules and Ron Weiner, we’re bringing all the fun, chaos, and spirit of the world of CLASH to life in a whole new way. We can’t wait for fans – old and new – to experience the mayhem.”

This is one part of a massive push into video game adaptations for Netflix. On the animated front, they’ve had the most success with Arcane, which ran for two seasons, Sonic Prime, and, most recently, Devil May Cry. They’ve also brought to life the world of Tomb Raider in a series, in addition to having planned adaptations in Splinter Cell, Assassin’s Creed, and Bioshock.

Editor’s Note: We’ve known about this animated series on Netflix for quite some time and first reached out to Netflix about it in late 2024, who told us there was nothing to share at that time and they’d keep us posted – they didn’t.
