It’s no secret that Costco has some incredible food options, spanning from bakery products to ready-to-eat meals. That’s why we’re always on top of their new launches (remember their iconic double chocolate muffins? Because we do too). However, this time around, shoppers aren’t exactly running to grab a new breakfast item that just hit shelves.
The Kirkland Signature Fried Chicken and Waffles with Syrup and Hot Honey is officially available in the food section, and customers are less than impressed. The meal consists of exactly what it sounds like: fried chicken, waffles, syrup, and a hot honey packet. It runs for $7.93 per pound, according to Costco’s website.

This TikTok video displays the menu item as costing $6.99 per pound, so it looks like the exact pricing depends on the area you live in. Although many shoppers expressed their interest in trying the new offering, those who did, weren’t necessarily thrilled with the result.

The Waffles Are ‘Super Sweet’
Apparently Costco’s prepared meals “have been awful lately,” according to one commenter. Several agreed, while others just particularly don’t enjoy the flavor of the chicken and waffle dish.
“Meh…the waffles are super sweet…almost too much,” one commenter wrote. “And the chicken is bland and only works with the hot honey sauce…I wouldn’t get it again.”
The recommendation is to place the chicken and waffles in the air fryer for approximately ten minutes, yet Costco fans even took to Instagram to express their distaste for the dish.
“I’m sorry my wife and I bought these and we love Costco but these just weren’t good lol,” another social media user said.
Despite the bad reviews, there were a select few shoppers who described the breakfast food as “awesome” and “delicious.” Looks like this is a case of preference. Each container provides four servings at 870 calories per serving, so it’s a solid option for those hosting breakfast or brunch in the near future (if you like it, that is). This meal is currently out of stock online, so this looks to be an in-store only offering.
If you decide to steer clear of the chicken and waffles like shoppers recommend, Costco has so many other tasty foods to choose from. For instance, this croissant pizza crust has shoppers sprinting to add it to their cart.
