Costco's Oversized Retro Bags Are Sweeping Shoppers Off Their Feet

At the end of October 2025, Costco introduced a new item to its U.S. stores: retro-inspired reusable grocery bags. The adorable bags have been available in Canada since the summer. Still, U.S. members had mainly been unsuccessful in locating them.

The bags have a nostalgic feel, with the figures reminiscent of the “Let’s All Go to the Lobby” advertisement created in the 1950s. The shapes on Costco’s bags, animated cookies, hot dogs, pizza slices, toilet paper, Costco cards, and receipts strongly resemble the candy, soda, and popcorn boxes from the animation.

On January 2, Costco So Obsessed spotted the new style at the Los Feliz, California, location and uploaded several photos of the bags on their Instagram.

“Loving these super large Costco reusable bags perfect for your hauls!” They captioned the photos. “Just $6.99 for $4! Do you have one?”

While many Costco fans reported that they hadn’t found them yet, those who had shared their enthusiasm.

Yes!! Love them 😍,” wrote one Instagram follower. “My dad found them for me.”

“They’re the best!” another fan commented.

“They’re so cute,” wrote a fan. “One of my fav purchases.”

The large bags are the perfect size for Costco’s shopping carts. The large opening eliminates the guesswork of whether you brought enough bags for your haul, allowing you to drop your items directly into the bag.

Some Costco shoppers may have been lucky enough to snag one of these bags in 2024, when customers who bought a membership over the holidays could also receive the reusable tote. Unfortunately, the bags weren’t available to purchase separately. This made fans all the more excited when they appeared on their own in Canada over the summer, and then here.

Reusable bags are a hot item, especially for Costco shoppers. While other grocery stores, such as Trader Joe’s, encourage reusable bag use with colorful bags in a variety of styles and colors, they still offer free paper bags at checkout. Costco, on the other hand, generally doesn’t provide free bags at checkout to keep costs down.

Customers have spoken! Costco’s newest bags are not only a great deal at $6.99 for four, but the adorable retro design is hard to resist.
