Country Star Announces Break to Recharge After ‘Burning the Candle for Years: ‘I’m Gonna Unplug’

2 May 20262 Mins Read

Brett Kissel isn’t afraid to admit that he’s been experiencing burnout. So much so that the country star says he has considered taking a break before, but he never followed through on his words.

That is, until now.

On Friday, May 1, the 35-year-old Canadian, known for songs like “Airwaves,” “Let Your Horses Run,” and “Farmer” featuring Lee Brice, took to social media, revealing plans to unplug for a month, especially from social media, to recharge and reset mentally.

“I’ve always said I’m gonna do it… Then, you never wind up doing it.  But this time, I’m gonna do it,” Kissel began his post on Instagram, writing his message against a black background. “It’s kinda ironic, but I’m gonna unplug for a month or so, and ‘recharge’ my batteries.”

Fans Can Still Catch Him in Concert

Even though he’s stepping back to refocus, Kissel isn’t disappearing from the spotlight completely. He promised that he still plans to perform the rest of his upcoming shows, which include a full calendar of dates set in his home country. Those shows can be found on his official website.

“I’ll see y’all at my shows, but you won’t see me on social media much as I take this time to relax and refocus. Been burning the candle for too many years straight,” Kissel wrote, adding that he plans to take up a few new hobbies to keep him away from social media.

“Maybe I’ll read.  Maybe I’ll write.  Maybe I’ll climb a tree.  Maybe I’ll ground myself with my feet in the grass. Maybe I’ll do nothing.  Who knows,” he said. “Wish me luck.  See y’all this summer when I’m ready to come out of hibernation. – BK”

Fans Chimed in With Their Reactions

Fans and followers, who saw Kissel’s message, took to the comments section of his post, sharing their reactions, with most folks supporting his decision to take some personal time.

“Everyone needs a recharge-reset. Especially when life has been nonstop. Proud of you for doing just that,” One person wrote, while another follower added, “Good for you, Brett! Enjoy life, enjoy family time, and just be you! We will all wait to see you at your next event! Enjoy the break!”

A third fan commented: “Sometimes unplugging is the best. You can focus on YOU! 🫂🙏🏼 wishing you the best during this time and hoping to see you soon! You’ve got this.”
