Country Star Forced to Postpone Opening Sold-Out Dates of Headlining Tour: ‘It Absolutely Crushes Me’

George Birge’s highly anticipated Country Songs Tour was supposed to begin this month, but that will no longer be the case. An intensifying winter storm system sweeping across the southern and eastern U.S. has compelled the country star to reschedule the opening three dates of his headlining tour. 

Here Are the New Dates

The performances that have been postponed include stops in Hobart, IN, Rootstown, OH, and Grand Rapids, MI, originally scheduled for January 22 through January 24. The shows will now take place on Thursday, April 23, Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25. 

Even though Birge has chosen to push his shows to springtime, he admits that the decision has left him feeling crushed. 

The Country Singer Released a Statement on Social Media

“Guys, it absolutely crushes me to say this, but we’re unfortunately gonna have to reschedule the first weekend of the Cowboy Songs Tour,” Birge said in a brand new video post, uploaded to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Jan. 21. “There’s historic snow and ice in the forecast for this weekend.” 

The “Cowboy Songs” singer went on to say that while he is eager to take the stage to perform for his fans, safety concerns made it impossible to move forward with the planned shows. 

“As badly as I want to play for you guys, I can’t, in good conscience, put my fans at risk getting there and put my band and crew at risk driving on those roads,” Birge said before sharing the newly adjusted dates for the tour. “We’re gonna be pushing those shows to April 23 through 25.” 

Birge then passionately emphasized, “I wanted to come play for you guys so bad. Not only were these the first three shows of our headlining tour, but they’re also the first three sold-out shows of the tour.” 

Fans Should Hold Onto Their Tickets as They Will Be Honored for the Rescheduled Shows

“But this show is gonna come back,” he promised, adding that fans who had purchased tickets will be granted entry into the newly scheduled dates for their location. “…Hold onto your tickets. They’re still gonna be good for the rescheduled dates. It’s gonna be a little bit warmer. My band and I put so much work into these shows. We can’t wait to come see y’all. So hang tight and know that we love you guys, and please stay safe in that weather out there.”
