Creed is coming to Alberta in August and our arms are wide open

18 July 20253 Mins Read

Did anyone expect grunge-lite band Creed to blow up again in 2025? (We certainly didn’t).

You can thank TikTok for that one. The band who formed over 30 years ago are well known for their hits, “With Arms Wide Open” and “Higher”.

What to expect

Creed will headline Calgary and Edmonton this August for their nostalgic Summer of ’99 tour.

That means you can relive your ‘90s youth six feet from the edge of the stage with back-to-back shows at Rogers Place in Edmonton on July 19 and the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on July 20.

The Summer of ‘99 tour has seen Creed reach legacy band status with extensive sold-out shows across North America. In April, they added a select few Canadian dates for the extended Western leg of the tour, to the joy of millennials everywhere.

Their shows in Calgary and Edmonton will host openers Big Wreck and Mammoth in a lineup that looks like it’s straight from 1999. Tickets are reasonably priced for a stadium show, with plenty of seating options under $100 still left.

TikTok fame

In a completely unexpected twist, Creed started blowing up on TikTok back in 2024 when clips of their “Higher” performance at the 2001 Texas Stadium NFL halftime show were relentlessly memed online.

TikTokers delighted in celebrating the visuals of the show, which included a man flying through the air at the chorus crux of the song. As one commenter pointed out, “That shot when the bald guy is flying through the air right as the chorus hits during higher single-handedly saved America during her darkest hour.”

That’s some pretty high praise for Creed, and it didn’t stop there. Over the past few years, their songs have been endlessly remixed and mashed up due to the band’s comical self-seriousness and frontman Scott Stapp’s iconic vocal growl. Their discography spanning the years 1997-2009 now enjoys over 14 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Take one last breath with Creed before they fade into the mist of ‘90s nostalgia forever. Check out more details for their Alberta shows below.
