Baking with bean flour was new to me, but I wanted to create crunchy, gluten-free cheesy chickpea crackers that were healthy with protein and fibre.
That sounds like a tall order, but it’s remarkably easy. I will show you how this crunchy, cheesy chickpea crackers recipe will be a regular in your snack recipe rotation.

I noticed they sold bags of chickpea chips while shopping at Costco before the holidays.
In our pantry sat a bag of cotganic chickpea flour I had purchased months earlier that needed to be used up.
Some of the best chickpea snacks I had ever tried were dried and roasted in the oven.
I knew I wanted to create a crunchy snack similar to roasted chickpeas, but something we could dip.
That’s when I remembered the chickpea chips I noticed at Costco.
I made cheesy chickpea crackers, which was easier than I thought.
When I tell you that these cheesy chickpea crackers are crunchy and flavourful, I’m not kidding.
I was unsure what would happen when I put the chickpea crackers in the oven, but I was massively surprised.
Not only do these cheesy chickpea crackers bake in under 30 minutes, but they also contain minimal ingredients.

How To Make Chickpea Flour
We always have bags of dried beans and legumes as they are budget-friendly and easy to rehydrate.
If you don’t have chickpea flour, it’s easy to make if you have dried chickpeas.
Take dried chickpeas and grind them in a food processor until they are flour.
Then, run the chickpea flour through a sieve to ensure the flour is finely ground.
We purchased a mini Kitchen-Aid food processor for $10 new on Facebook Marketplace and use it often.
It’s that easy, although I wish I had known before buying a pre-made chickpea flour bag.
A 1lb bag of Bob Mills organic chickpea flour only costs $4.99 on Amazon Canada, although there are many brands to choose from.

How To Make Cheesy Chickpea Crackers
You’ll get approximately 18 small round, crunchy, cheesy chickpea crackers perfect for dipping, snacking, or adding to soups and salads.
Ingredients
Add other herbs or seasonings, such as garlic or onion powder, paprika, fresh parsley, dill or chives, etc.
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Add all the ingredients to a food processor apart from the grated old cheddar cheese and bagel seasoning.
- Blend the ingredients until combined, then fold in the cheddar cheese, leaving enough to add two strands to each cracker’s top before baking.
- Spoon 15-20 small mounds of the cracker batter onto the parchment paper.
- Add the remainder of the old cheddar and Everything Bagel Seasoning to each cracker.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and crunchy.
How To Store Cheesy Chickpea Crackers
- Let the cheesy chickpea crackers cool completely before eating.
- Store them in a container for up to 3 days on the counter, but they won’t last long once you taste how amazing they are.

- 1 tsp Avocado or Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
- 1/2 cup grated Extra-Old White Cheddar Cheese
