CD Projekt Red revealed Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.3 update is slated to arrive on July 17 and that the patch focuses on vehicles and customizations. Update 2.3 will add three new cars and the first new customizable motorcycle in the game. Each new vehicle can be unlocked by completing quests, which Cyberpunk 2 Associate Game Director Paweł Sasko says will be triggered intuitively and will not count towards 100% completion.
A new AutoDrive feature will enable vehicles to navigate independently once a waypoint is set, eliminating the need for player control. According to in-game lore, the feature will roll out to all cars through a software update. But if the vehicle is attacked, AutoDrive will stop. Then again, vehicles will also stop at red lights and obey traffic rules. However, Sasko assures players that combat has been fine-tuned to happen less frequently to allow the feature to work seamlessly.
The Delamain AI taxi company can be hired for AutoDrive, which is great, because there is also a wandering mode where cars can drive in free-roam as well. It comes alongside a new cinematic camera similar to Grand Theft Auto, which allows players to experience Night City in a more picturesque fashion. As such, Photo Mode can be used alongside AutoDrive.
Photo Mode also implements new features, such as changing the time of day and weather for the perfect snapshot. 27 new NPCs have been implemented for Photo Mode alongside new poses and outfits for main characters. To celebrate the feature, CD Projekt Red says it will soon host a Photo Mode contest for fans.
PC players can look forward to AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.1 (FSR 3.1) support starting with the launch of Update 2.3 tomorrow. While Cyberpunk 2077 will eventually support FSR 4, quest director Paweł Sasko confirmed it will arrive with a future AMD driver update. HDR10+ Gaming is now fully supported, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is on its way to console versions. CD Projekt also reiterated that the previously announced Mac version of Cyberpunk 2077 will launch alongside Update 2.3 on July 17.
