Dairy Queen is taking a beloved combo to the next level with a new offer.
The iconic fast food chain only recently introduced its fall-inspired menu, which officially launched at all of its restaurant locations on Aug. 29, and includes fan-favorites like the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard as well as the new Reese’s Caramel Craze Blizzard treat. But now Parade has learned that some participating locations are also upgrading the hot food menu this fall with a limited-edition Dr Pepper Patty Melt.
Dairy Queen’s Dr Pepper Patty Melt
The Dr Pepper Patty Melt takes a beef patty and tops it with American cheese, bacon, two onion rings and a jalapeño relish. The diner-style sandwich is served on Texas toast and finished with Dr Pepper BBQ sauce, which is described as “a blend of sweet and tangy flavors” inspired by the soft drink.

Where to Find the Dr Pepper Patty Melt
If you live in Texas, congrats! This one is just for y’all–well, at least, for now.
While DQ hails from Illinois, Dr Pepper was developed in Waco, Texas, the state where the sandwich is exclusively available for a limited time.

“The only thing Texans will love more than enjoying a delicious DQ burger is one topped with our bold, signature Dr Pepper BBQ sauce,” Lou Romanus, CEO of the Texas Dairy Queen Operators’ Council, told local KHOU 11 reporters in a statement. “The new Dr Pepper BBQ Patty Melt brings together two Texas legends in one irresistible bite.”
The item launched on Sept. 1 and fans have made it pretty clear that they want to see this one go nationwide, so maybe, if we’re lucky, DQ will hear everyone out on this one.
“Figures it’s only at the Texas chain ones,” one Instagram user lamented.
“Word???? Why is it not national 😂,” a second begged to know.
A third added, “This kind of sounds🔥.”
“Only Texas get to try this how is that fair,” someone else asked with disappointment.
“It was 10/10 and I got a cowboys cup 🔥🙌,” another declared.
One more even tagged the chain in their post, writing, “@dairyqueen so hey man, consider making this international?”
If you’re one of the many fans who don’t live in Texas, Dr Pepper-flavored barbecue sauce is available to purchase from Stubb’s, and it’s a pretty simple recipe to make yourself, should you feel so inclined to DIY the patty melt at home. Otherwise, maybe DQ’s new and returning seasonal favorites, currently available at storefronts nationwide, will help soften the blow?
