Dairy Queen’s New Spring Shake Sounds Like a Grand Slam

Dairy Queen is getting a new milkshake flavor next week, and this menu update is coming with a little help from the Savannah Bananas.

On Thursday, the popular fast-food chain revealed it’s apparently been heavily involved in the team’s spring training rituals this season, gearing up to launch a frosty beverage inspired by the team’s new partnership with DQ.

“The Savannah Bananas are all about having fun, and creating unforgettable moments for our fans is at the heart of everything we do,” Jared Orton, president at Savannah Bananas, shared in a statement. “This season, we’re excited to elevate those experiences through our partnership with DQ. We share a mission of spreading joy to our fans and that’s exactly what we plan to do as partners.”

Dairy Queen Teams Up With the Savannah Bananas for New Shake Flavor—Which Fans Can Score for Free

According to an official description, the new shake is inspired by the “legendary fun and wild creativity” of the Savannah Bananas. It features DQ’s world-famous soft serve, which is then blended with real milk, fresh banana (not banana flavor), strawberries, and chocolatey shavings before being crowned with whipped topping.

The new shake will be available at participating DQ locations nationwide beginning on Monday, Feb. 23, for a limited time (prices may vary). Should bananas not be your thing, fear not: DQ’s Mint Oreo Blizzard and the new Mint Crunchin’ Cookie Dipped Cone will launch the same day.

And that’s just the start of the partnership, as the official press release reveals the two fan-favorite brands have a whole lot more potential home runs in store for the season—including ways to score freebies from DQ.

“Our partnership with the Savannah Bananas is a natural fit for DQ. We’re two brands that put the fan experience first, bring people together to create special memories, and of course, love to flip,” Maria Hokanson, executive vice president of marketing at American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ), added. “From pre-game pep rallies and foul-ball moments at Bananas games to stopping by DQ to try the new Savannah Bananas Split Shake, we’re excited to offer fans unforgettable fun all summer long.”

The campaign will serve up “flips, fun and tasty treats” through national TV spots and co-branded social content, as well as with its lineup of interactive experiences taking place at Savannah Bananas games across the country. While the brands plan to keep the details a secret, Parade can confirm that through the collab, fans attending Savannah Bananas games this season will have a chance to score a free DQ Shake.

Here’s how it works: When a fan catches a foul ball (a signature Banana Ball moment that signals an out), the DQ Shake Snag will be triggered, rewarding new DQ Rewards members with a free small shake, redeemable through the DQ app.

There’s also some special moments planned for fans off the field, too. According to the official press release, the Savannah Bananas may make pit stops at DQ locations as they travel from game to game, so keep an eye out for their bright yellow jerseys!
