Radcliff stared alongside Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez in the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim’s beloved musical in 2023 and 2024, and the live recording debuted in theaters in 2025. Now, fans can finally watch it at home on the streaming platform.
And if you haven’t seen it, you probably should; the film is Radcliffe’s top-rated film on Rotten Tomatoes, edging out on the critic-rated Tomatometer only by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (which has a 96% rating compared to MWRA’s 95%), and it beats the fantasy film 95% to 89% on the fan-voted Popcornmeter, making it both “Verified Hot” and “Certified Fresh” on the platform.
Additionally, all three stars of the film were recognized for their performances. Radcliffe and Groff took home Tony Awards for Best Featured Actor and Best Actor, while Mendez earned a Best Feature Actress nomination.
If you’re not familiar with the musical based on George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart’s 1939 play of the same title, Netflix describes it as being about “a bright composer [who] abandons his friends to become a big-time film producer.”
“This is the story of their unraveling — in reverse,” it concludes. The story spans three decades and features some of Sondheim’s most famous songs.
