Toby Fox has finally confirmed a release window for the next two chapters of Deltarune, roughly six years after the game’s initial release. Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 will “100% come out in 2025,” Fox said via X. The Undertale creator shared the update on development progress with a Halloween illustration on Thursday.
Fox said that he was “eager” to share what he made with fans and that the specific time and date of release will depend on “localization and console porting.” The developer added, “Please hear me clawing at the door trying to escape the shallow coffin I have been buried in.”
Fox released an update in early October that said Chapter 3 was almost done being localized and that testing on the game would begin in the following week. Some fans online speculated that new content could come out as soon as the end of the year, but it looks like Fox and his team will need a bit more time than that.
Instead of releasing a complete RPG, Fox has shipped Deltarune in chapter installments. He published the first chapter in 2018 and Chapter 2 in fall of 2021. These two chapters can be downloaded for free, but Fox said he plans to turn it into a paid game once the next set of chapters comes out. He has not specified a price nor which platforms players can expect to play the following chapters on.
