Derek Houghand his wife Hayley Erbertare getting ready to welcome their first child—and they just had a very special experience as they await the baby’s arrival.
The couple shared on Christmas day (Dec. 25) that amid rainstorms in Los Angeles, a stunning rainbow formed across their backyard. The symbol had an even more touching meaning for the couple considering their newborn will be their “rainbow baby,” their first child after previously dealing with a miscarriage.
Hough took to Instagram to post a video of the couple embracing in the middle of the downpour as the rainbow shined brightly behind them.
“Is this a sign? After a downpour, the most beautiful rainbow appeared. Like a little sign from the universe,” Hough wrote in the caption of the video. “Maybe it’s our little one’s way of saying hello with a grand entrance. Our little rainbow baby, we’re ready to meet you.”

In the comments, Hough and Erbert’s family and friends joined in on celebrating the special moment, expressing how excited they were for the upcoming arrival.

“Come on little one… we can’t wait to meet you – I know it’s cozy in there but I promise you’ll be wrapped up in more love than you could ever imagine,” Hough’s sisterJulianne wrote underneath the video.
Among the outpouring of love, Hough also pondered, “Is today the day?” While there’s no word on baby Hough just yet, the couple have since posted to their Instagram stories—indicating that their little one hasn’t made their arrival just yet.
Hough and Erbert shared their pregnancy news back in July and have been keeping fans updated through all of their milestones including bump updates and nursery preparations.
While some people were predicting the couple would welcome a Christmas baby, it sounds like that isn’t the plan right now!
