Many millennials are trying to do parenting differently than the generations before them. If you’re part of any parenting circle, you’ve probably heard of “gentle parenting” — the catch-all term that generally refers to parents who try to stay calm, place a lot of importance on their child’s emotions and show a lot of physical affection.
But, as Sheila Perkins wrote in a First Person article for The Globe last year, some grandparents are struggling with the parenting styles of the new generation, and clashes can often occur within the family when disagreements arise on how best to raise a child.
If you’re in this situation, either as a parent or a grandparent, The Globe wants to hear from you. Is there intergenerational disagreement within your family about how best to discipline? Are you a millennial parent frustrated by your Baby Boomer parents’ approach — or lack of approach — to grandparenting? Or a grandparent who finds themself arguing with your child over your grandchild’s upbringing?
