‘Do the… Team Initiation Challenge?’ walkthrough and quest steps in Pokémon Pokopia

11 March 20267 Mins Read

After playing around a bit in Pokémon Pokopia‘s Withered Wasteland, you’ll eventually follow Professor Tangrowth to the beach, where they point out a strange tower. You’ll start the “Do the… Team Initiation Challenge?” important request, where you’ll need to donate items to this not-sketchy-at-all tower.

Notably, you’ll progress in this quest as you unlock the various areas in the game. If you realize you don’t have access to whatever the tower is currently asking for, you’ll probably need to progress just a bit more in the game’s story or upgrade your Environment Levels more. You do need to clear this important request in order to roll credits and beat the game.

This request can be frustrating, as it involves forking over a lot of items, so if you need to know where to find these items or you want to plan ahead, we list out all the steps for the “Do the… Team Initiation Challenge?” important request below.

Part 1: 5 Leppa Berries

This one is pretty straightforward. You can find Leppa Berries growing on most of the trees in the Withered Wasteland.

You get the Bouldery Badge as a reward.

Part 2: 10 beans, 10 tomatoes, and 10 wheat

You can find these crops in the following places:

  • Beans are found growing in the Withered Wasteland.
  • Tomatoes are growing in gardens in Bleak Beach.
  • Wheat can be found in Rocky Ridges.

This one is also not very complex, but you’ll need to finish the “Yawn up a Storm!” important request, allowing you access to Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges, since that’s where you find tomatoes and wheat, respectively.

All three crops can be found growing already in these areas, though you may need to water them first to make revive them from their wilted states. As a reminder, you can use any Pokémon with the Grow specialty to speed up the growth of the crop, too.

You get the Cascade-like Badge as a reward.

Part 3: 20 lumber, 5 fluff, and 10 paper

These materials come from a variety of places:

  • Lumber can be found on the ground, but you can also make it by giving small logs to a Pokémon with the Chop specialty.
  • Fluff is dropped by some Pokémon with the Litter specialty. You can find this from Mareep in Bleak Beach fairly early.
  • Paper is made by giving wastepaper (found in Sparkling Skylands) to a Pokémon with the Recycle specialty.

So, yes, you will need to finish the “Brighten Things Up!” request in Bleak Beach and the “Time to Party!” request in Rocky Ridges to get access to the fourth area before you can finish this quest.

You get the Thunderish Badge as a reward for finishing this request.

Part 4: 40 bricks, 20 gold ingots, and 50 concrete

This is when you may hit a time gate, so if you’re reading this ahead of time, consider prepping some of this early, if you can:

  • Bricks are made by giving squishy clay to Pokémon with the Burn specialty.
  • Gold ingots come from smelting gold ore, with gold ore found deep in the Rocky Ridges mines. You can also use the Arcanine doll to go to a Dream Island to find gold ore.
  • Concrete is processed by Crush specialty Pokémon in a concrete mixer, which you’ll unlock in Sparkling Skylands.

You get the Rainbowish Badge as a reward for this quest.

Part 5: 50 units of electricity, 10 crystal fragments, and 5 Tinkagears

This one starts getting a little more complex:

  • Place furnaces or windmills and power lines near the tower to power up the node on the left side of the deposit box.

    • Furnaces provide 30 units of energy and windmills provide 10.
  • Crystal fragments can be found in the Rocky Ridges mines.

    • Specifically, if you follow the mine tracks past where you initially found Magmar and the furnace, you can use Cut on some metal fencing that blocks off an area. Use Strength (hold down A) to move the pillars in the way, and you’ll get access to a room with crystals inside.

  • Tinkagears are traded from Tinkmaster in exchange for iron ingots.

    • You unlock Tinkmaster and Tinkagears from progressing in the Sparkling Skylands. You get three Tinkagears per iron ingot.

You get the Soul-like Badge as a reward for doing this.

Part 6: 4 industrial beds, 4 resort lights, and 4 office desks

All three of these items’ recipes are found in various areas. It’s extremely likely that you picked up the recipes for these already, but in case you haven’t, here’s where to find them:

  • The recipe for industrial beds is behind the crafting table in the abandoned restaurant in Rocky Ridges.

    • Each bed requires 2 iron ingots, 2 fluff, and 2 lumber.
  • The recipe for resort lights is in Meowth’s home in Bleak Beach.

    • Each light requires 1 iron ore, 1 vine rope, and 1 sea glass fragment.
  • The recipe for office desks is on the ground in front of the Pokémon Center in Sparkling Skylands.

    • Each desk requires 2 Pokémetal.

You get the Marshy Badge as a reward.

Part 7: 1 washing machine, 1 refrigerator, and 1 Game Boy system

You earn these items as rewards for reaching Environment Level 5 in the following regions:

  • The washing machine is the reward for Bleak Beach.
  • The refrigerator is the reward for Rocky Ridges.
  • The Game Boy system is the reward for Sparkling Skylands.

If you hit Environment Level 5 and you’re not seeing these items, make sure you’re interacting with the PC, as it’ll give you the item as a reward, thanking you for your “continued use of Poké Life.” After getting the items, you’ll also be able to buy the recipe for these from the PC, so you can make more, if you want.

You get the Volcanoey badge as a reward for submitting these items.

Part 8: 1 photo

Yep, just send off any photo that you’ve taken. (I personally recommend sending off a cute Ditto selfie or something of your character, rather than a willy-nilly photo you took of an item or something, though.)

You get the “Earth” Badge as a reward for this.

Part 9: 2 party poppers

For the last part of this request, you’ll need to bring two party poppers to the tower. You get two (and unlock the recipe for it) once you hit Environment Level 5 in Withered Wasteland, so you may have already done this by this point.

After you bring the party poppers, the quest will wrap up and you can watch the cutscene ahead.

With this request complete, now you’ll have a lot more time to spruce up your island in Pokémon Pokopia. We have both a Pokédex and Habitat Dex to assist in figuring out what can spawn where, and what you need to build to summon your favorite creatures. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you can also check out our beginner’s guide for some tips and tricks to help smooth out the construction process.

If you’re looking to play with friends, know that there are restrictions for the regular Pokopia multiplayer and for the GameShare version.
