Donald Trump made a bold comparison of Taylor Swift and Sydney Sweeney while defending the actress’ controversial American Eagle ad.
On Monday, Aug. 4, the POTUS took to Truth Social to praise Sweeney, 27, for her “great jeans” ad that sparked backlash for racist undertones.

“Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the ‘HOTTEST’ ad out there,” Trump, 79, wrote on the social media platform. “It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are ‘flying off the shelves.’ Go get ‘em Sydney!”

After that, he slammed ads from Jaguar and Bud Lite as “woke” before taking aim at Swift, who endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election.
“Just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift,” Trump continued. “Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT.”
He concluded, “The tide has seriously turned — Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
In one of the American Eagle ads, Sweeney declared, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue.”
Trump previously lauded the White Lotus actress after learning she was a registered Republican.
“You’d be surprised at how many people are Republicans,” Trump said on Aug. 3, per The Hill. “That’s what I wouldn’t have known, but I’m glad you told me that.”
He added, “If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic.”
In contrast, the POTUS has repeatedly criticized Swift, 35—like when he exclaimed that he hated her in September 2024 and called her “no longer hot” in May 2025.
