Drew Barrymore‘s daughter Frankie is absolutely adorable on her 12th birthday.

The beloved actress and TV host, 51, who rose to superstardom as a child actor in films like Irreconcilable Differences and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, became a Hollywood heavyweight during her comeback in the ’90s when she starred in films like Poison Ivy, Boys on the Side, and Scream. These days, the mom of two daughters is the host of The Drew Barrymore Show, a popular chat show that welcomes some of the biggest stars in the world. Her ex-husband, Will Kopelman, took to Instagram to celebrate their younger daughter’s 12th birthday with a series of sweet photos of the girl as she has grown up. With her Bernese Mountain Dog by her side, Frankie looks elated to hit the big 12.

“The tradition continues…HAPPY BDAY FRANKIE!!! They bloom for you kid 🌸🩷,” Kopelman captioned the photos, which show his daughter under the blooming trees in the park.

When Did Barrymore and Kopelman Get Divorced?

Barrymore and Kopelman divorced in 2016 after four years of marriage, PEOPLE reported. Kopelman married Alexandra Michler, director of fashion development for Vogue, in August 2021. The couple has since welcomed two sons: Hugh and John.

What Has Drew Barrymore Said About Aging?

While Barrymore is more proud than ever of her two daughters, Olive and Frankie, she’s also been very open about her own aging journey.

“Aging is a privilege that I will never take for granted,” Barrymore captioned a recent video, which showed the star glancing in the bathroom mirror and zooming in on the wrinkles on her face. She mouthed expressions of joy and exasperation, which are often hard to find on stars who overdo it with injectables like Botox and fillers.

“Aging is a privilege. It is not something to fear,” read the text written on the video.

Reflecting on the Hardest Decades of Her Life

While Barrymore’s posts about aging are positive, she’s also weathered plenty of hard times. This fall, on an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Barrymore reflected on some of her most difficult moments with guest Matthew McConaughey.

“From 10 to 20 was the hardest decade of my life. I made a lot of mistakes. I had to pick myself back up. It was messy as can be. It’s my favorite decade,” she recalled. 

“Forty to 50 was also when I didn’t think it could get any harder than that,” she said. “And a lot of things happened in my life — especially once kids are involved — I was like, ‘Oh, there is room under bottom. A whole bunch of it! And I just found it.’” 

While she didn’t get too descriptive, Entertainment Weekly surmised that Barrymore was referring to her split from Kopelman in 2016, when she was 41.

Despite the hardships, Barrymore came out the other end much stronger.

“I put in a decade of self-improvement, self-awareness, and radical changes,” she said. “So all this work led up to, ‘Oh my god, time is our most precious commodity.’”
