'Duck Dynasty' Star, 77, Shares Health Update After Hospitalization

10 July 20252 Mins Read

Duck Dynasty star Kay Robertson shared an update about her health five months after she was hospitalized.

While making a rare appearance on her family’s “Duck Call Room” podcast on Wednesday, July 9, Kay, 77, joined her son Alan Robertson and brother-in-law Si Robertson to discuss her health.

“You live, Mom!” Alan, 60, said at the beginning of the episode, noting that rumors circulated online that she had died.

Kay then proved that she had a sense of humor about the gossip by joking, “Thank goodness! I’m tired of being dead.”

While Kay has been living a mostly private life, Alan explained that his brother Willie Robertson had been “trying to pull Mom out of retirement” after she appeared on a few episodes of Duck Dynasty: The Revival.

“She has told Willie in no uncertain terms she is retired. She’s not dead, but she is retired,” Alan said, and Kay humorously quipped, “Yeah, but he obviously can’t hear!”

Following her husband Phil Robertson’s death in May, Kay moved in with Alan’s daughter Anna and her husband, Jay. Kay is close to Alan and his wife, Lisa, as both of the family’s plots of land are on the same compound.

“Mom has been doing her physical therapy, she’s lost some weight, she’s really been great. I’ve been super proud,” Alan said of his mother amid her difficult time. In addition to processing the death of her late husband, Kay was also hospitalized in February after she had a bad fall.

Kay then revealed what her experience was like in the hospital, admitting that she was a bit of a celebrity among the staff.

“You try to sign autographs in the hospital. It’s really fun! … The staff, the people walking down the halls [would say], ‘That looks just like Miss Kay!’ ‘Yeah, that’s her, let’s go and see her,'” she joked. “Really, is there a sign that says, ‘Come on in?’”

Alan added that Kay has “a little bit of dementia.” However, her memory issues are not as severe as Phil’s Alzheimer’s before he died at the age of 79.
