Earth Day events in Calgary you can check out this week

20 April 20263 Mins Read

Earth Day is coming up on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, and honestly, it’s a pretty great reminder to get outside, do something a little different, and give back to the planet while you’re at it.

Luckily, Calgary has plenty of Earth Day events happening this week where you can show up, get involved, and be part of something bigger.

From community cleanups to fun local events, there are lots of easy ways to take part and make a difference. Here are some Earth Day events happening in the city this week.

The Earth Day Celebration at Canopy Studios invites you to take part in a guided Eco Art activity, explore the connection between art, nature, and well-being, and contribute ideas for a future sensory garden.

You will also experience poetry readings and an art exhibition inspired by local green spaces, learning how creativity can be used to connect more deeply with the environment.

When: Wednesday, April 22, 2026
Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Canopy Studios – 1723 9th St. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

Ever thought about upcycling something old into something you’d actually use? This is your chance. At the Calgary Craft Workshop, you’ll have an opportunity to turn old clothing or fabric into a custom tote bag using simple, beginner-friendly techniques- no sewing required.

When: Wednesday, April 22, 2026
Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Cornerstone Music Cafe – 114919 Deer Ridge Dr. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: $44.06

The City of Calgary is hosting a community nature challenge, inviting you to take a closer look at the world around you. Look for plants, insects, birds, fungi, and other wildlife around your neighbourhood, take photos, and then upload them to iNaturalist.ca to help map Calgary’s biodiversity.

When: Friday, April 24, to Monday, April 27, 2026
Time: All day
Where: City-wide event
Cost: Free

Keep The Earth Fresh is hosting its fifth annual Earth Day event in Calgary, where you can take part in a park cleanup, learn about the environment, plant seeds, and join in on fun activities like chalk the walk and water games.

When: Saturday, April 25, 2026
Time: 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Princes Island Park – 698 Eau Claire Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

Clean up, give back, and maybe win something while you’re at it. On April 26, you can head over to Wild Rose Brewery and bring a bag of bottles or collected garbage to support the Calgary Veteran Services Society, and you’ll be entered to win a Wild Rose bocce ball set.

When: Sunday, April 26, 2026
Time: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Wild Rose Brewery – 4580 Quesnay Wood Dr. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

This week is basically your excuse to get outside, try something new, and be part of the community in a low-pressure way. Whether you’re creating, cleaning up, or just exploring, it’s all about doing something that feels good and actually gets you out of the house.

Let’s make it a tree-mendous week in the city!
