Eater Nominated for 2026 New York Emmy

2 July 20262 Mins Read

Eater has been nominated once again for a New York Emmy Award, its eighteenth in nine years. The 2026 nominations, announced today, recognized an episode of The Experts in the category of Magazine Program — Single Program.

The nominated Experts episode, “New York’s Best Porchetta Comes From This Tiny Suburban Deli,” spotlights chef Angelo Competiello, who cooks up some of New York’s best dishes at his modest deli shop in Suffern, New York, called Alta Irpinia. The episode explores how Competiello makes his famous porchetta, as well as his deep knowledge of pork, which dates back to his childhood days thanks to his dad’s work in local pork shops. Other dishes are spotlighted, including fresh mozzarella — “the core of the store,” in Competiello’s words — multiple types of pizza, traditional meatballs, and inventive sandwiches that are unique to Alta Irpinia.

The episode was produced, shot, and directed by Tom Daly, along with co-director Stefania Orrù and director Murilo Ferreira. Bill Vella was responsible for production sound and Howie Burbidge for editing.

Eater’s video team has previously won five New York Emmy Awards, including wins in 2022 and in 2021, and was also nominated in 2024 and 2025. The winners of the 2026 New York Emmys will be announced on Saturday, October 10.
