Travis Kelce‘s dad, Ed Kelce, previously detailed what it was like for his late girlfriend, Maureen Maguire, to meet Taylor Swift before her death at the age of 74.
After Swift, 35, began dating Travis, 35, in summer 2023, the “Love Story” singer met his family during one of his football games with the Kansas City Chiefs that fall.
In February 2024, Ed, 74, recalled to The Los Angeles Times that he took a photo with Swift at one of Travis’ games. “Hey! That’s my boyfriend,” the father of two claimed Maguire jokingly told Swift.
Ed revealed that Swift laughed at Maguire’s joke before she and Ed struck a “father-daughter pose.”
The February 2024 interview wasn’t the first time he teased what Maguire’s relationship with Swift was like. While appearing on Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan radio in January 2024, Ed revealed that it was actually Maguire who let him know how famous Swift is.
“I met Taylor at Travis’ house. When Travis has a lot of friends coming into town to the game, everyone meets at his house, although he’s not there because he’s sequestered with the team,” he said. “Everyone meets at the house, and they have a shuttle that comes [to] pick everyone up and take them to the game. At any given home game, you could end up with 20 people there.”

Ed continued, “Taylor walks in with a security guy, and I look at her, and I say [to my girlfriend], ‘Oh my God, I know this kid, but I don’t know what her name is.’ Jeez, you know, like a real idiot.”
According to Ed, Maguire told him, “You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.”
Ed confirmed that Maguire had died on Saturday, August 2, by sharing her obituary on his Facebook page. “Maureen Maguire, born November 21, 1950, in the Bronx, New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones,” the obituary read. “Though she began her life in New York City, Maureen spent the majority of her years in the suburbs of Philadelphia, where she built a warm and vibrant home filled with love, laughter, and family traditions.”
