Ed Sheeran is getting in on the Halloween fun, and fans are completely stunned at his costume transformation.
This year, the singer/songwriter channeled spooky character Pennywise, the primary antagonist from Stephen King‘s It, and what some call his “most infamous creation.”
“Awakening in the Maine town of Derry every 27 years upon the spark of local violence or tragedy, a supernatural clown that primarily calls itself Pennywise the Dancing Clown lurks in the sewers and preys on children,” according to a description of the creature by Far Out. “Able to manipulate reality, it seemingly takes on many forms, adopting the manner of one’s deepest fears.”

Sheeran totally nailed the complete look, taking to Instagram to show off the process of becoming Pennywise and sharing footage of himself fully stepping into the role for the Oct. 31 holiday.
“In for a Penny,” he captioned the social media upload.
The gallery found the “Shape of You” crooner undergoing an extensive hair and makeup session, sitting in a café with his signature red balloon, and creepily posing for a shot in front of a bridge, in what looked to be Dumbo, Brooklyn.
He also enjoyed a slice of pizza, a beer at a bar, and skipped through the rainy streets of NYC in costume.

In the comments section, fans couldn’t get over the wildly accurate depiction of the horror novel/film’s character.
“Damn I didn’t think anything would top last year. 🎈,” one fan marveled, while another remarked, “I can’t believe it,” in part.
“AMAZING!!! 🎈” a third applauded, as two more commenters dropped in to add, “Ed, you ate this up and left no crumbs 🎃” and “This post just made my YEAR! 😂😂😂 Happy Halloween!!!! 🎃”
Meanwhile, someone else cleverly quipped, “LOVE “IT” 🤡.”
