Edmonton’s highly anticipated Ice Castles are opening earlier than expected

23 December 20252 Mins Read

The cold weather has brought Edmonton one good thing: the Ice Castles.

If you haven’t heard already, the famous Ice Castles are back in Edmonton after a short absence for their 15th anniversary. These magical castles are only available in five locations, and Edmonton is one of the lucky cities. This celebration has been ongoing since 2011 and remains one of the most sought-after winter attractions of all time.

Initially, they were supposed to open in January, but good news, folks: it’s opening before the new year. The official opening date for the castles is now Saturday, Dec. 27, and they will be open all the way up until February.

Not sure what they are all about? Here, you can explore ice caverns, squeeze through passageways, wander beneath icy archways, race down ice slides, and feel like royalty upon frozen thrones.

For those adults looking to attend, you’re able to step up to the frosty ice bar and order a winter-themed alcoholic beverage! Enjoy a cool drink at the guaranteed coolest place in the city.

If you’re interested in a more intimate experience at the castles, the Arctic Alcove is available for booking. The Arctic Alcove includes a private space roped off from the public, six tickets to the Ice Castles, six free treat cards, one souvenir photo, and a 20% off discount on merchandise.

Pricing for tickets ranges from $15 to $20 for off-peak days and $18 to $24 for peak days. Plan your trip accordingly! Spots are also limited, so choose your arrival time online for the most streamlined experience.

No matter what you decide to do, visiting Fan Park this winter will be a trip you won’t regret.

When: Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, to Monday, Feb. 16, 2026
Time: Varies
Where: Fan Park — 10104 104th Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: $15+
