Ella Langley Reacts to Breaking Mariah Carey’s Record for Longest-Running No. 1 of All Time: ‘It Feels Fake’ 

Ella Langley is over the moon after it was announced that the country singer had overtaken Mariah Carey‘s record for the longest run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Choosin’ Texas” has dominated the charts since its release in Februray, leading it to stay at the top for a solid 23 weeks. The new record surpasses Carey’s 1994 holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas is You,” which held the spot for 22 weeks. Her record was based on the track’s accumualtion during the holiday season from 2019 until 2026.

The 27-year-old country singer gleefully celebrated the news of her Dandelion single making music history. She posted a video on Instagram by her pool merely hours after it was announced. Having made her album debut in 2024, Langley still doesn’t believe it’s real.

“I’m genuinely trying to find the words to help explain what’s going on in my brain today,” she said in her video.

“Thank you so much. Thank you for loving this song. For listening to it. I don’t even know what to say at this point. I’m running out of hyperboles to describe how I feel, so I will just let my dog in the background show you his excitement.”

She called the success of “Choosin Texas” life-changing an has changed the lives of the writer’s of the song. Langley also adds that it’s also changed the lives of her family, as the song is “growing in atmosphere” into something she will be able to do for the rest of her life.

“It doesn’t feel like a real thing. It feels fake and somebody is going to come and say, ‘Haha, we’re kidding the whole time,'” joked the singer.

With the news of her record-breaking track, Langley was ready for a night out in celebration. Not only did “Choosin Texas” overtake Carey’s record, but it also led Langely to become the first female artist to simultaneously top America’s Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts.

Dandelion was her second album that debuted in April of 2026 and landed at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart. After “Choosin Texas,” Langley released her second single “Be Her” and it peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track was stopped from the top spot due to the success of her first release.

Langley co-wrote her No. 1 single alongside Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert and Joybeth Taylor, but as the holiday season apporaches, Carey could reclaim her title at the top of the charts.
