Last November, singer Elton John, 78, was forced to delay his new album after losing sight in his right eye, which was due to an infection. And in a new interview with The Times, John opened up about just how stressful and frustrating losing his eyesight has been.
He told reporter Will Hodgkinson he hasn’t been able to see since July, and explained:
“I can see you, but I can’t see TV, I can’t read. I can’t see my boys playing rugby and soccer, and it has been a very stressful time because I’m used to soaking it all up. It’s distressing. You get emotional, but you have to get used to it because I’m lucky to have the life I have. I still have my wonderful family, and I can still see something out of here… So you say to yourself, just get on with it.”
We can only imagine how tough this must be for him, especially not being able to witness the day-to-day moment in his kids’ lives. But it sounds like John is keeping his head up and maintaining a positive attitude, choosing to be grateful for the experiences he still has.

And John isn’t letting the challenges with his sight hold him back. His new collaboration album with Brandi Carlile, Who Believes in Angels?, was released on Friday, much to the delight of fans. As you can see in this video performance, the two of them sound nothing short of incredible together.
