Empress 1908 Gin is getting a new spinoff.
The top-rated spirit is best known for its small-batch Indigo Gin that’s distilled in copper pots with an original blend of botanicals that includes the viral butterfly pea blossom, which gives the gin its vibrant blue-purple hue.
But its latest release takes everything fans have come to expect from the brand and flips it on its head. Empress 1908’s cult-favorite Indigo Gin now has an alcohol-free, zero-proof alternative: Empress 1908 0.0 Indigo.
Empress 1908 Gin Gets New Zero-Proof Indigo Spirit
Empress 1908 0.0 Indigo is “carefully crafted” by the same master distillers responsible for the original Empress 1908 at Victoria Distillers, one of Canada’s oldest artisan distilleries.
The brand’s first-ever alcohol-free spirit is made with all-natural flavors. It’s said to offer notes of citrus, subtle spice, and soft florals from its unique botanical ingredients, which include juniper, grapefruit, and butterfly pea flower. It’s then blended with “a touch of” cane sugar and filtered water, according to the official description.

“We dedicate the same craftsmanship to Empress 1908 0.0 Indigo as we do to all our award-winning gins,” Phil Lecours, master distiller at Victoria Distillers, shared in a statement. “Guided by the essence of our flagship Indigo Gin, we brought together distinctive botanicals to create a harmonious and elevated alcohol-free spirit.”

The new release comes at a time when younger generations are drinking less and just in time for “Dry January,” a popular health “challenge” that encourages adults to abstain from any alcohol consumption for the month.
“Today’s consumer is evolving, showing more interest in zero-proof options than ever before,” Eric Dopkins, CEO and chairman of Empress 1908 Gin’s parent company Milestone Brands, added. “As a direct response, Empress 1908 0.0 Indigo offers a sophisticated alternative that makes distinctive zero-proof cocktails effortless and delicious,”
In recent years, there’s been a surge of interest in the spirit’s main ingredient, the butterfly pea flower, partially due to its health benefits (it’s loaded with antioxidants and compounds that may help reduce inflammation although more research is needed), its natural color-changing reactive pH (changing from indigo-blue to pink and even red in more acidic environments), and because of a cocktail recipe Swifties made viral during the Eras tour.
Now, Empress 1908 Gin has made it easier for at-home mixologists to create tasty mocktails and everyday drinks—like lemonade, iced tea, and a DIY Refresher—without ever having to go through the effort of finding and steeping their own tea or struggling to balance it with a sweetener.
Empress 1908 0.0 Indigo is now available nationwide at select retailers for a suggested retail price of $39.99 for a 750ml bottle. To find the item at a store nearest you, try the Empress’ online product locator.
