LISTEN TO THE PLUGGED IN SHOW, EPISODE 299
I have a weird job. All of us do, here at Plugged In. We watch movies, read books and play games for a living. We count swear words. We wring our hands over screentime—even though our work is almost entirely centered on screens. (That’s just one of the many ironies of working for Plugged In.)
Our work also triggers a whole bunch of questions. You may have a few yourself. Sometimes those questions are pretty straightforward and innocuous: “How do you take notes? How do you choose who goes to see what?” Others are, shall we say, more pointed. “Why do you see R-rated movies?” Or “Why can’t you lighten up?” Or “How can you possibly like/hate/watch that thing that I hate/like/don’t watch?”
These are all fair questions. And as The Plugged In Show winds down, we answer as many as we can in this mailbag episode.
Then, in advance of the Sept. 5 release of Truth Rising—a documentary crafted by the Colson Center and our own parent ministry, Focus on the Family—we talk a little bit about the purpose and power of documentaries themselves. We share a few of our favorites and opine on what makes a good one.
And we also have a special treat for you: A few of our favorite mistakes in making The Plugged In Show. Yes, you’ll have a chance to listen to a number of our auditory faceplants, and you’ll have a chance to wonder why I have such a hard time saying “ChatGPT.” (It’s harder than you’d think!)
Naturally, we still have tons of questions yet to answer—and we’re always looking for more. Do you wonder what it’s like to be a Plugged In reviewer? Do you have an idea for something that could improve our ministry? Let us know. We won’t be able to answer it on The Plugged In Show anymore, but we’ll have plenty of opportunities on our YouTube channel in the future. We’d love to solicit your questions on Facebook and Instagram, too. Let us know in the comments section below, or leave us a voicemail at The Plugged In Show homepage. And, of course, you can always send us an email at [email protected].
And buckle up, folks. Next week’s our final episode. And we’ll try to send off The Plugged In Show in style.
